ONTARIO, Calif., July 2, 2026 (CALIFORNIA NEWS TODAY) — Prime Healthcare President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sunny Bhatia has been named the CEO Large Company honoree at the 2026 LA Executive Forum & Leadership Awards, presented by LA Times Studios.
The annual awards recognize executives for leadership, innovation and organizational impact across multiple industries. Bhatia received the honor during a ceremony held June 8 at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica, California.
As president and chief medical officer, Bhatia helps lead Prime Healthcare's network of 55 hospitals and more than 360 outpatient locations across 15 states. The health system said his leadership has focused on expanding access to care, improving patient safety, strengthening community hospitals and supporting clinical quality.
"As a physician, I have never believed that quality, operations, access, and financial sustainability are separate goals. They are all connected to whether a patient can walk into a hospital in their community and receive safe, timely, compassionate care. At Prime Healthcare, we are proving that community hospitals can deliver nationally recognized outcomes when they are led with clinical discipline, operational focus, and an unwavering commitment to patients," said Dr. Sunny Bhatia, President and Chief Medical Officer of Prime Healthcare.
According to Prime Healthcare, Bhatia has helped oversee the organization's continued expansion, including the acquisition and integration of eight Illinois hospitals in 2025 and the addition of Central Maine Healthcare to the Prime Healthcare Foundation in 2026.
Bhatia has received several recent national recognitions, including being named to Modern Healthcare's "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare" and "50 Most Influential Clinical Executives" lists, as well as recognition by the Los Angeles Business Journal as a "Leader of Influence."
Prime Healthcare is a health system that operates 55 hospitals and more than 360 outpatient locations across 15 states, providing healthcare services through its network of hospitals, physicians and outpatient facilities.
